CLASSES
American Political System: Fall 2009
American Political System is offered as an enrichment to the conventional civics curriculum. It is available to public and private high school students from Glenwood Springs to Aspen. Tomorrow's Voices equips our students with critical thinking skills to navigate current social questions such as: political issues, efficacy of foreign aid, neo-conservatism, Arab-Israeli politics, and immigration.
Tomorrow's Voices employs the Socratic Method to encourage class discussion and critical thinking skills. Students respond in writing to ethical questions posed by the instructors or by the compelling authors whose writings compose a large part of the curriculum. This method, coupled with attention to current events, places class discussion in our students' hands in an engaging and stimulating manner.
Tomorrow's Voice believes that students need more guidance in navigating ethical questions in order to build exemplary character. Our course helps students navigate these ethical questions.
Participating juniors and seniors earn high school credit and may earn college credit through University of Colorado's "CU Succeed Gold Program" for this class. Classes are taught on Monday nights, weekly from September through January. Fall 2009 classes will be held at Roaring Fork High School from 6:45pm to 8:45pm. Tuition is $100 for the semester (which includes the course materials). Scholarships are available.
